Do I need a prescription to buy a CPAP machine?
Do I need a prescription to buy a CPAP machine?
Yes, a prescription is required so your sleep apnea therapy settings can be tailored to your specific needs.
The prescription should include instructions written by a medical practitioner on a medical letterhead and includes:
- Patient details (e.g. name, medical conditions, etc.)
- Medical professional (physician) contact information and signature
- Date, state of CPAP therapy, and pressure setting or specific instructions pertaining to treatment
Can I travel with my CPAP device?

Can I use my health insurance benefits to buy a travel CPAP device?
Most insurance providers will cover the purchase of a standard CPAP machine or portable/travel CPAP machine every 5 years. However, coverage and plans may vary. We recommend you check with your insurance provider and plan to find out if the device you want is covered.
Does the Transcend Micro have a battery?
The Transcend Micro does not include a built-in battery but can be powered directly with the AC Power Adapter included or you can purchase the Transcend Micro PowerAway Battery for up to 17.5 hours of portable power.
Can I use the Transcend Micro Auto CPAP as a full-time CPAP machine?
Yes - the Transcend Micro is designed for travel and portability but it is also powerful enough for full-time use at home.
Can I use the Transcend Micro on international flights?
Yes - the Transcend Micro is FAA-approved for in-flight use but be sure to confirm specific policies with your airline before travelling.
